NEW GUN REEL. AKA and see "Niel Gow's Reel (1)." Scottish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "New Gun Reel" was entered into the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of William Clarke, of Feltwell, Norfolk, East Anglia, who was perhaps a flute player. Clarke's title is a mishearing of "Niel Gow", a strathspey by Edinburgh musician and music publisher Duncan MacIntyre (also set as a reel).
