The "Duke of Roxburghe's Farewell to the Blackmount Forest" was composed by piper wikipedia:Angus_MacKay (1813-1859), one of his last recorded pieces, composed in 1853. MacKay was Queen Victoria's first piper, preceding William Ross, the Queen's favorite. In 1854 MacKay was institutionalized in his later life, and died after escaping the asylum at Dumfries.
Black Mount (also Blackmount) is a mountain range located in Argyll and Bute, and Blackmount Forest is a deer park (now part of the Glen Nevis and Glen Coe scenic area). Black Mount Forest Lodge was a famous hunting lodge nearby.
