STORNAWAY CASTLE. Canadian, Pipe Reel (cut time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCCDD. "Stornaway Castle" was composed by Peter MacLeod Jr. (1917-1972), whom Paul Stewart Cranford (2015) calls a 'child prodigy'. This reel was published in 1935 in John Wilson's first collection, when MacLeod would have been aged 18. His father was a Pipe Major and composer.
