AB. wikipedia:Prince_William,_Duke_of_Cumberland (1721-1765) was the third and youngest son of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland and his wife, Caroline of Ansbach. As commander of the British forces arrayed against the Jacobite army of Bonnie Prince Charlie, he was the victor at thedecisive Battle of Culloden (1746). His cruelty and depredations of the Highlands following the battle earnedhim the nickname "Butcher Cumberland."
