MAYO AIR. Irish, English; Air (3/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Fr. John Quinn finds the air printed twice as untitled airs in Hoffmann's 1877 edition of collector George Petie's Irish music. In the first instance, Hoffman/Petrie No. 38, it is labelled a "Mayo Air" from Dr. Kelly. It was later printed twice in Charles Villier's Stanford's 1905 issue of Petrie's music (Nos. 201 and 794) although the latter variant is under the title "Air to an old English Ballad. Collected in Mayo." As Fr. Quinn points out, the second example is altered from the first by re-barring.
