QUADRILLE CANADIEN -- 1ERE PARTIE. French-Canadian, Quadrille (cut or 2/4 time). D Major ('A' part) & G Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Soucy researcher Jean Duval finds that Montreal fiddler Joseph Allard recorded a non-'crooked' (i.e. regularly metered) versions in 1932 under the titles "Reel boule de neige" (Snowball) and "Quadrille fèves au lard"[1] The latter version was covered by 'Downeast' fiddler Don Messer in 1948 under the title "Pork and Beans." The second strain of Soucy's quadrille can also be found as the first strain of James S. Kerr's "Bridesmaid Schottische", printed in Merry Melodies vol. 4 (p. 46).
