REEL DES BEAUX YEUX (Beautiful Eyes). French-Canadian, Reel (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Researcher Jean Duval notes that the second strain of the reel "Reel des beaux yeux" (which he says sounds more like a polka or a schottische) is similar in character to "Triomphe (Le)," as played in the Saguenay region of Québec[1]. Boucher re-titled the piece for his 1933 publication; in his first version of the 1927 collection, Duval finds the tune under the title "Gigue du cantonnier."
