The tune is contained in vol. 2 (p. 150)[1] of the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper wikipedia:James_Goodman_(musicologist). Goodman manuscripts researchers Hugh and Lisa Shields[2] find cognate tunes in "Five Leaf Clover (2)" and "Hetty's Wishes," and Goodman's own "My Love she wears a Dandy" (vol. 1, p. 249). They also note the similarity to the popular session reel "Hunter's Purse (The)."
