L'ARMANDINE. AKA and see "Valse Claire," "Valse florissante." French-Canadian, Waltz (3/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'CC'. L'Armandine: Fortunat Malouin recorded this waltz under the same title in 1928. Boucher's version is very close to Malouin's. This waltz was also recorded a little later, in 1939 by Les Trois Copains (with Arthur Pigeon on accordion), under the title of Valse Claire (Starr 16239), and in 1941 under the title of Valse florissante by Isidore Soucy (Starr 16454). With its trio structure (section C), it is not impossible that it was originally salon music, or simply a composition by Malouin, since Armandine was his daughter's first name.
