SHOWMAN'S REEL, THE. Irish, Reel (whole time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The reel was entered into Book 3 (p. 84) the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Canon wikipedia:James_Goodman_(musicologist) (County Cork). It is a member of the large family of tunes that includes "Spence's Reel (1)," "Castlebar Traveller (The)," "Laurel Bush (The)," "Yeoman's Reel," "West Gale (The)," "Reel of Bogie (1) (The)," "Humors of Loughrea," "Lough Aisles Return," "Tuehey's Reel," "Gossan that Beat His Father (The)," "Lochiel's Awa' to France."
