Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The melody was printed by London publishers Charles and Samuel Thompson as "Aldridge's Rant." "Highland Reel [1]" was included in Book 2 of the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric wikipedia:James_Goodman_(musicologist), who also entered a variant as "Humors of Ballyconnell (1) (The)," by which name the tune is known today.
