DARGLE, THE. AKA and see "Card and Spin." English, Air (9/8). E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was used in the 1772 London stage production Irish Fair, which featured Irish and Scottish country dance tunes. It is a different piece than "The Dargle," a Dublin broadsheet ballad which begins "Come, haste to the wedding" and may have been a variant of that famous melody.
