BATH MINUET [2]. AKA - "Bath Minuet (2)." English, Minuet (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears (as "Bath Minuet") in the music manuscript copybook of fiddler John Burks, dated 1821. Unfortunately, nothing is known of Burks, although he may have been from the north of England. Burks included a bass line underneath the melody. An identical version also appears in the c. 1785 music manuscript collection of pastoral piper John Sutherland, Aberdeenshire (p. 125) and another version (as "New Bath Minuet") is to be found in the mid-19th century music manuscript of Manchester, England, musician biography:John Roose.
