DUTCH SKIPPER [2], THE. AKA and see "Auretti's Dutch Skipper." English; Jig (6/8 time). England, Northumberland. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. There were a number of tunes in a varity of meters that went by the title "Dutch Skipper." All appear to be based on stage dances in imitation of dutch steps. Source for notated version : - William Vickers' music manuscript [1] collection, Northumberland, 1770. Unfortunately, little is known of Vickers.
