PRIDE OF SLIEVE AUGHTY (Mórtas Shliabh Eachtaí). AKA and see “Nova Scotia Jig (The)," "Sonny Logan's.” Irish, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Breathnach had the “Pride of Slieve Aughty” title for the tune from Loughrea, County Galway, accordion player Joe Burke. It is also called the "Nova Scotia Jig (The)" in New Jersey accordion player Luke O'Malley's 1976 collection, and it has been suggested that it was the composition of New York fiddler Larry Redican, O'Malley's source for the tune. And a claim of composition was advanced for Seán Ryan [1] (1919-1985, Nenagh, County Tipperary), under the name"Sonny Logan's." The Bridge Céilí Band titled it "Seán Ryan's/Port Sheáin Uí Riain" on their 1999 recording "Sparks on Flags."

However, substantially the same jig was published in Boston in 1940 by Gordon MacQuarrie in his Cape Breton Collection, in which it was credited to fidder Sandy MacLean and titled "Lila MacIsaac's Favorite" after his favorite pianist.

There is some similarity in the first strain to "New York Jig (3) (The)."
