Arsène Jarry (1847-1930), a fiddler and shoemaker from Montreal, played a version of this reel he simply called "Vieux reel" (Old reel). He was recorded on wax cylinder in 1918 by Édouard-Zotique Massicotte, a folklorist colleague of Marius Barbeau. Here's the abc: X:14 T: 14. Also, the tune is not unlike the Scotch reel Bonny Lass of Ballantrae (in the key of F).
