Researcher Conor Ward finds "New Post Office" in several musicans' manuscripts from Counties Leitrim and Longford dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. County Cork Church of Ireland cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman included the tune twice in his large mid-music manuscript collection, under the titles "New Post Office" and "Highland Fling."
