JENNY PUT THE KETTLE ON [2]. AKA and see "Lord Moira." American, Reel. USA, Missouri. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. This version of the Scottish tune "Lord Moira" was collected from a Missouri fiddler, by Samuel Bayard. Save for the title, it is not related to another and more common tune played in Missouri and elsewhere in the South and Midwest, ("Polly/Jenny Put the Kettle On (1)). Another relatively close version can be found in Raven's English Country Dance collection under the name "Flintlock." Bayard (1981) notes that melodic material in the tune derived from the Scottish "Marquis of Hastings (The)," "Loudon's Bonnie Woods and Braes," and "Lord/Earl of Moira's Welcome to Scotland (The)."
