MUNSTER BUTTERMILK [2] (An Bhláthach Mhuimhneach). AKA and see "Barr na Feirste," "Carty's Jig," "Squeeze Your Thighs," "Take Her or Leave Her." Irish, New England; Double Jig (6/8 time). G Major (Harker/Rafferty, Miller & Perron, Mulvihill, Sullivan, Tubridy): D Major (Flaherty, Mulvihill). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (most versions): AA'BB' (Tubridy): AABBCC (Miller & Perron/1977). Bronx fiddler Martin Mulvihill (1923-1987) gave his G Major version as an alternate accompaniment for the set dance The Seige of Ennis. Breathnach finds that "Squeeze Your Thighs" is the name for the tune in a ms. from County Fermanagh, c. 1865 (when copied into a 1920 manuscript the title read "Squeeze Your Thights"). "Take Her or Leave Her" is a County Leitrim title for the jig.
