RIVER BEND, THE. AKA - "River Bend Jig." Canadian, Jig (6/8 time). Canada, Cape Breton. A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB’. One of the more popular compositions by the prolific Cape Breton fiddler and composer biography:Dan R. MacDonald (1911-1976). Editor John Donald Cameron remarks that the tune is a “Cape Breton square dance favorite,” written to commemorate a successful day’s fishing in a small trout river that flows through his childhood home of Judique South.
