NORTH'S JIG. AKA and see "Hoddom Castle," "Noonan's Jig." American, Jig (6/8 time). Fr. John Quinn identifies Howe's "North's Jig" as a version of the Scottish slow air "Hoddom Castle," composed by Charles Sharpe of Hoddam and printed by the Gows and James Aird at the end of the 18th century. Furthermore, Howe printed the exact same tune some forty pages earlier in the same volume albeit with the title "Noonan's Jig."
