"Mrs. Henderson of Aimster's Favorite" was composed by Elgin fiddler-composer biography:Donald Grant and published in his Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs &c. (1820-21). Aimster is a farmstead (now deteriorated) in Thurso, Caithness, thatdates from c.1800 and was the home of Captain John Henderson, author of the General View of the Agriculture of the County of Caithness (1812), a work of considerable interest at the time.

'Mrs. Henderson' of Grant's title was John's spouse, Jane, daughter of Captain William Maclean of the 40th Regiment, and his wife, Mary, daughter of John Sutherland of Forse.
