BELLE ASSEMBLÉE, LA. English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. In addition to the jig's appearance in London publishers Samuel, Ann and Peter Thompson's Compleat Collection, vol. 5 (1788), the melody appears in Longman, Lukey, & Broderip's Bride's Favourite Collection of 200 Select Country Dances, Cotillons (London, c. 1776), and Longman and Broderip's Compleat Collection of 200 Favorite Country Dances (London, 1781).

In the early 19th century the name "La Belle Assemblée" was employed by publisher John Bell [1] (1745–1831) for a successful women's magazine [2]. It began publication in 1806 and became one of the major ladies' fashion magazines of the high Regency era. It continued to be published until 1832, when it was renamed The Court Magazine and Belle Assemblée.
