JACK COUGHLAN'S (REEL). AKA - "Jack Coughlan's Fancy," "John Carty's," "Kevin Crawford's." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Jack Coughlan, who composed the tune, was a flute player from Ballinakill, the same part of County Galway as Black's source, Mike Rafferty. Coughlan was a member of the 'new' Ballinakill Ceilí Band in the 1940's, according to Gearóid Ó hAllmhuráin (1999), made up of the 'next' generation of traditional musicians, including flute and time whistle player Eddie Moloney, Aggie Whyte, Jack Coughlan and Kevin Moloney. In Breathnach's untitled version (from Eddie Moloney) the parts are reversed.
