PRETTY MILLINER, THE. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody also appears in the 1786 music manuscript copybook of American flute player Henry Beck. A different tune by this name appears in Bride’s Favourite Collection of 200 Select Country Dances (Longman, Lukey & Broderip, London, 1776). The first strain is similar to the first strains of "Milk Pot (The)" and "Miss Hussey's Reel." The tune was later published by the next generation of the Thompson firm as "City Assembly (The)" in 1792, albeit with a truncated second strain of eight instead of twelve bars.
