INVERARY MARCH. AKA and see "American March," "Green Horse March (The)," "O'Brien of Arra," "Sir Barry Denny's March." Scottish, March (4/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A march of unknown provenance. Versions appear in Irish collections under the alternate titles. Boston music publisher Elias Howe printed the tune in 1842 as "American March." A somewhat distanced version was entered under the title "March 2nd"[1] in the mid-19th century music manuscript of William Winter[1] (1774-1861), a shoemaker and violin player who lived in West Bagborough in Somerset, southwest England.
