VEXED EDITOR, THE. AKA and see "What You Please (3)." American, Quickstep. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Fr. John Quinn finds that Howe later published the tune in three parts in his Muisician's Omnibus Nos. 6 & 7 (1880-1882) as "What You Please (3)," a title used for the tune in Norris & Sawyer's The Village Fifer (1808), albeit their tune is in two parts. The binary version, but not the title, was the one Howe used for his 1000 Jigs and Reels (c. 1867).
