REEL [145]. AKA and see "Hunter's Purse (The)," "Old Head of Kinsale." Irish, Reel (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). This reel appears in P.W. Joyce's Ancient Music of Ireland (1873, No. 62) as an untitled tune. Fr. John Quinn finds the same tune in Boston music publisher Elias Howe's 1000 Jigs and Reels (c. 1867) under the title "Old Head of Kinsale", and in later publications as "Hunter's Purse (The)." Joyce is silent on the source and origins for his tune.
