Editor Matt Seattle (1987) notes that William Vickers' Northumbrian dance version, from 1770, is fairly different from the tune which usually goes by the title "Bonny Breast Knots," "but with enough in common to suggest they are variants of the same tune, albeit distantly related." Vickers gives "Looking Glass" as an alternate title. See also note for "Bonny Breast Knot (1) (The)" for more information. David Rutherford printed a close variant, "Topsey Turvey" in his 18th century Compleat Collection, and other variants are to be found under variations of the title "Ladies Breast Knot (The)", although Vickers' parts are reversed from those tunes, as is also found in "Breast Knot (2) (The).
