KISS FOR A HALF PENNIE, A. AKA - "Kiss for a Ha'penny (A)." AKA and see "Pòg ar Bòn-sèa," "Rake's Rant." Scottish, Reel and Country Dance Tune (4/4 time). The melody appears in the Bodleian Manuscript (in the Bodleian Library, Oxford), inscribed "A Collection of the Newest Country Dances Performed in Scotland written at Edinburgh by D.A. Young, W.M. 1740." The tune and title were also entered into Edinburgh fiddler and writing master Young's MacFarlane Manuscript (c. 1741, p. 230), compiled for his patron at the time, MacFarlan of MacFarlane. However, the tune can be found in Young's earlier Drummond Castle Manuscript, Part 2 (1734, No. 39) under the title "Rake's Rant."
