STAK IN VERGO. AKA - "Stáca an Margiadh," "Strachan variga." Irish, Air (3/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The Irish air"Stáca an Margiadh" was printed by Scottish musician biography:John Bowie in his c. 1789 collection of strathspey reels, country dances and airs. His garbled title was "Stak in Vergo." The tune was also published by William Crotch as "Strachan variga" in a version he sourced to John Baptist Malchair taken "from the playing of a blind piper." Thomas Moore used a version of the air for his song beginning "Thee, thee, only thee" (Market-Stake (The)").
