LADY AUGUSTA HAY'S MINUET [1]. Scottish, Minuet (3/4 time). Archibald Duff (c. 1770-c. 1840?) was a musician (along with his brother Charles) and dancing master of Montrose and Aberdeen, and is recorded as being a Professor of Music residing at Clayills Cottage, Aberdeen in 1837. His volume A Choice Selection of Minuets, Favourite Airs, Hornpipes, Waltzs &c. Book First (Edinburgh, c. 1812) was dedicated to Lady Mary Ramsay of Balmain. Lady Augusta Hay (1766-1822) was the daughter of James Hay, 15th Earl of Errol, and Isabella Carr. She married George Boyle, 4th Earl of Glasgow, in 1788 and died at the age of 56.
