REEL VICTORIA. AKA and see "Democratic Rage Hornpipe," "Reel du Pêcheur." French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Reel Victoria" was recorded in Montreal in 1937 by fiddler Jacques "Jimmy" Boudreau (1890-1978) of Maisonnette (now Caraquet), Gaspé, Quebec. It is a close version of "Democratic Rage Hornpipe" found in Ryan's Mammoth Collection, renamed for Boudreau's wife according to Jean Duval. There are other versions of the reel in Quebecois repertory as well (see note for "annotation:Reel du Pêcheur").
