LEITRIM DRAGOONS. AKA and see "4th Dragoons March (The)," "Fourth Dragoon's Regimental March," "General Lafayette's March," "Hull's Fourth Dragoon March." The "Leitrim Dragoons" title for this march refers to its appearance in Book 6 (2nd tune) of the large 1883 music manuscript collection of fiddler and piper Stephen Grier (c.1824–1894), a native of north Longford, moved to Newpark, Bohey, Gortletteragh, in south Leitrim in 1852. The title Grier used for the tune was "4th Dragoons March (The)," by which name (or close variants) it appears in English musicians' manuscript collections. See note for "General Lafayette's March" for more information.
