"General (James) Abercromby's Reel" is one of the dances and tunes included in the volume Twenty Four American Country Dances (1785), by a 'Mr. Cantelo', that purports to be a collection of dances that was danced at the winter quarters of the British army at Philadelphia, New York, and Charles Town. It was printed in London by Longman and Broderip. The alternate title, "The Light Bob," refers to soldiers of the light infantry.
