IF I HAD A WIFE [1] (Dá mbeadh bean agam). AKA and see "Barrel Organ (The)," "Mick Mahony's (1)." Irish, Slide (12/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'CC (Moylan): AABB'CC' (Beisswenger, Breathnach). Editor Moylan (1994) states that this is not the usual tune associated with the rhyme "If I Had a Wife" (for which see "If I Had a Wife (2)"). Co. Kerry accordion player Johnny O'Leary played the tune paired with "Kilcummin Slide (The)" and "Mick Mahony's (2)," while famed Sliabh Luachra fiddler and teacher Padraig O'Keeffe (1889-1963) played it in a medley with "Kilcummin Slide (The)" and "Worn Torn Petticoat (The)."
