LAST NIGHT'S FUN [1]. AKA and see "Farrell O'Gara's Favorite Reel," "Last Night in Leadville," "Macroom Lasses," "Old Joe Sife's," "Pretty Jane's Reel," "Stick it in the Ashes." Irish, Reel. A Major (Cole, Ryan): G Major (Kerr). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Kerr): AABB (Cole, Ryan). See also "Old Sport" for a similar melody. A different "Last Night's Fun" than is usually played by that title in modern Irish sessions, although there are a number of unrelated tunes bearing the title. The tune is a version of Francis O'Neill's "Macroom Lasses," and better-known under that title. County Sligo fiddle great Michael Coleman (1891-1945) recorded it as a fling as the first tune in his set "Killarney Wonder (1)." Massachusetts fiddler Frank Ferrel notes the tune was a favorite of Cape Breton fiddler Joe Cormier. Ferrel and J.P. Cormier played it at Joe's memorial service.
