LADY DOUGLAS'S REEL. AKA and see "All Around the Room," "Shropshire Reel." Scottish, Reel (4/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The reel is attributed to the mysterious "W.J." who is credited with a half-dozen tunes in publisher James Alexander's Alexander's 50 New Scotch & Irish Reels & Hornpipes (c. 1826). The volume was edited by a "professional musician," who is presumably "W.J." himself. The reel was entered twice into the c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim musician Stephen Grier (see "All Around the Room").
