HUMOURS OF BALLYDESMOND, THE. AKA and see "Din Tarrant's (5)," "Knocknaboul Polka (1) (The)," "Knocknabower Pollka (1) (The)," "Little Green Cottage (The)," "Scartaglen Polka (1) (The)." Irish, Polka. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The Sliabh Luachra town of Ballydesmond was established in the 1830's as a planned village at the junction of two newly built roads, among the first in the interior of the hilly region. "If I Had Maggie in the Wood" or "Maggie in the Wood" is a similar melody.
