HURLER'S MARCH [2], THE (Triall an Iomanaigh). Irish, March (6/8 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody is in the heptatonic mode. Edward Bunting (1840) and R.M. Levey (1873) identify their versions as coming from Kings County (Levey is obviously copying Bunting), the former name of County Offaly, located in the Irish midlands in the Province of Leinster.

Source for notated version : - the index to the Irish collector Edward Bunting's 1840 collection gives "G. Petrie, Esq., Dublin 1839" as the source. George Petrie [1] (1790-1866) was another famous antiquarian and collector of Irish music.
