DEVIL'S HOP [2], THE.   Irish, Slip Jig (9/8 time).  G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle).  AB.   "Devil's Hop [2]" is contained in the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim musician [[biography:Stephen Grier|]], in Book 4 (No. 40, p. 9 [1]). It is probably a version of the English country dance tune "Devil's Hop (1) (The)", though quite distanced in the first strain. Unusually, it is the second strain of the tunes where the correspondence is more obvious. The tunes are quite alike in character.
