DARK MAIDEN OF THE VALLEY, THE (An MaigDean Dub On Feorain). AKA and see "Maiden (The)," "Bean Dubh a' Ghleanna (1) (An)." Irish, Slow Air (3/4 time). E Minor/G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. The air is a simpler version of "Bean Dubh a' Ghleanna (1) (An)" (The Dark Woman of the Glen), which O'Neill obtained from fiddler Daniel Sullivan of Boston, a native of Millstreet, County Cork. See also O'Daly's (Poets and Poetry of Munster, 1850) variant "Bean Dubh an Ghleanna."
