Sheet Music for "Tap the Barrel (Jig)"Tap the Barrel (Jig)Jig12Book: James Goodman music manuscript collection, vol. 1 (mid-19th cent., p. 211)

TAP THE BARREL.   Irish, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'.  "Tap the Barrel" is a jig contained in volume 1 of the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman.   Goodman researchers Hugh and Lisa Shields find the first strain of Goodman's "Tap the Barrel" is cognate with the second strain of O'Neill's "Road to Lurgan (The)" (Music of Ireland, 1903, No. 830).
