CAPITAINE VOLEUR. AKA and see "Captain Jinks." French-Canadian, Quadrille (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Capitaine Voluer", the trickster captain, is a version of the comic song "Captain Jinks of the Horse Marines," popular in the 19th century. Capitaine Voleur was the name of a cotillion game-like dance popular in the latter 19th and early 20th centuries in Québec.
