CHAMPION HORNPIPE [3]. AKA - "Champion Clog." AKA and see "Jersey Lightning." Scottish, Hornpipe. E Minor ('A' part) & G Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Champion Hornpipe [3]" is a different tune than Tyneside fiddler-composer James Hill's "Champion Hornpipe (4) (The)." Fr. John Quinn finds "Champion Hornpipe (3)" to be cognate with "Jersey Lightning," printed in William Bradbury Ryan's Ryan's Mammoth Collection (Boston, 1833). Peter Kennedy published the tune as "Champion Clog."
