JACKSON'S JIG [1]. Irish, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. Composed probably "by a gentleman piper and fiddler called "Piper" Jackson (whose first name was either "Walter" or "Walker"), who lived in either Co. Limerick or Co. Monaghan, in the mid-18th century. It is also claimed that he wrote the well-known 'Irish Washerwoman', as well as a great many other tunes, mainly jigs."
