JOHN ARSCOTT OF TETCOTT. AKA and see "Difyrrwch Gwyr Dufi." English. England, Devonshire. The tune predates by 75 years the Welsh version "Difyrrwch Gwyr Dufi." John Arscott of Tetcott [1] (c. 1718-1788) was a Devonshire squire, whose excesses and kindnesses were remembered variously by different writers. All seem to agree that he was fond of conviviality, and that his greatest joy was the hunt.
