ASHEVILLE. AKA and see "Flop-Eared Mule [1]." Old-Time, Breakdown. USA, North Carolina. Learned by Madison County, North Carolina fiddler Tommy Hunter from his grandfather. The name appears to be a local re-titling of the well-known "Flop Eared Mule," and Hunter's version is the same as Osey Helton's Broadway recording.

Recorded sources: Broadway 5119-B (78 RPM), Osey Helton c. 1924 (Asheville, North Carolina fiddler). June Appal 007, Tommy Hunter - "Deep in Tradition" (1976).
