GLASGOW FLOURISH. AKA and see "Miss Admiral Gordon's Reel." Scottish. John Glen (1891) finds the earliest printing of this tune in Joshua Campbell's 1778 collection (p. 65). The title comes from the motto of the city of Glasgow, 'Let Glasgow Flourish'. The title also refers to a Scottish country dance in hornpipe time. Glasgow is Gaelic for 'green hollow.'
