INTREPID, THE. AKA and see "Cutting at the Broom." English, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was also printed by John Johnson in his 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 8 (London, 1758). Almost a hundred years later the melody appeared in the music manuscript collection of Waverly, Cumbria, musician John Rook (1842), under the title "Cutting at the Broom."
